Wife was too excited and couldn’t wait for me to open the gift till Christmas, so here’s my present! Shinola Runwell Chrono. Marks my first nice watch in the collection and I couldn’t be happier.

Just kidding. It’s beautiful, and I’ve got a soft spot for analog timepieces. Way better than digital.

My favorite part about analog is the way they can be used as a compass.

I’ve forgotten how exactly, because it’s a trick I’ve never actually used in anger, but it’s something that would keep me from ever buying a digital watch again.

What I like about analog watches, and analog car gauges, is that you get, at a glance, the relationship of time or speed, rather than a simple reading of the exact number. My wife’s Civic has a digital speedo, and I’m not a fan.

I don’t like digital speedometers for a different (main) reason... lag. I like the reference point conventional gauges have too though.

I’ve always longed at them from afar, now I have one! She said the shop in Detroit was really cool too. People making the watches right there, and a customization station as well.

Yup, her pick as well. Though I told her what material I wanted. 4+ years and multiple bottles oppened and it still looks new!
